  1. CURSE YOU, HILARY!!!!!!!!

Actually, we saw the movie last night. I was surprised, but it's really, REALLY good.

  3. Katie, I've heard mixed reviews on the movie. Some people are saying it's all about the animation--that the true meaning of the story gets left behind; others are saying it's a fantastic adaptation. Care you to elaborate on your "review"?

  4. Sure, it's over-animated. But it's a 3D movie: it's supposed to be over-animated! It's all part of the fun. (See it in 3D, by the way; I can imagine it would be gratuitous in 2D.)

The adaptation was wonderful. They were very faithful to the book, taking most of the dialogue straight from Dickens. The acting (Can you call it acting in an animated film? It seemed like acting to me.) was very well done. I was expecting Jim Carrey to be hammy and grotesque, but he was totally honest.

And because it's animated, they're able to take incredible liberties with the visuals. In fact, that was probably my favorite part. Some of the imagery was seriously jarring, even downright haunting. I definitely recommend it.
